Term Four 2018
Haere Mai – Welcome!
New Families We have had a number of new children start at Kindy in recent weeks. We hope that you and your children are finding a sense of belonging at Kindy. We are glad that you are here and look forward to being part of your child’s learning journey.
Keep an eye out for the date of a morning tea for our new families coming this term!
Holiday dates
The last day of the year is Wednesday 19th December. Kindy will be closed for four weeks. The first day of 2019 starts with our holiday programme on Tuesday 22nd January. Term One starts on Monday 4th February 2018.
Hello Spring & Summer
Encouraging children to develop good sun safe practices is important to us, so please remember to pop a NAMED sunhat into your child’s Kindy bag every day. Children must wear a hat when playing outside throughout summer. We have kindy hats available for the children’s use. Please ensure that your child arrives at Kindy already sunscreened. We will reapply sunscreen after lunch for those children who stay all day.
Christmas Event
We are celebrating our end of year Christmas Family Event at Whangaparaoa Primary School on Friday 7th Dec 5-7pm. Bring a picnic dinner and enjoy the bouncy castles and other planned activities. Bring bikes and helmets to use on the Bike run. If raining we will use the hall from 5:30pm.
Spare Clothes
Please remember to name your children’s clothes and put a spare change of clothes in their bags as we will be having more water play available as the weather warms up.
Other Activities to watch out for
A bike day and Dress Up day are ideas for this term … more information to follow.

Reminders
Fruit for morning tea. Thank you so much for bringing a piece of fruit each day your child comes to Kindy, to contribute to the children’s daily shared morning tea. There is a bowl on the water bottle trolley for this fruit.
Name tree. As part of your child’s arrival routine, please encourage them to find their name leaf on the left hand side of the board and choose a place to put it on the tree. Your child may also like to find their photo and pop that on their name leaf.
Coast Kindy Policies. Each month we review a number of our policies. These are available for you to read on the noticeboard by the door.
Coast Kin-da-Groove
Coast Kin-da-Groove is the music session that we run on Friday mornings at 9:30am in the hall to the right of the Kindy. Please come along and enjoy dancing with your child as well as connecting with other parents and caregivers over a cuppa after the music session.
One child $3, two children $4, three or more children $5.
Beach and Bush Walks
We will continue to go for walks to Arkles Bay beach/bush on Wednesday afternoons with our 4 year olds. The children are excited about being part of these adventures where we explore ‘our beach’ and see ‘our mountain’ Rangitoto. We share discoveries about beach life, nature and conservation and develop our own working theories and understanding while connecting with our community. If your child is part of this group and you would like to join us on the walks, please see Therese. We would love you to join us.
God Bless! Therese, Raewyn, Linda, Suzanne, Sophie, Paulette, Elizabeth and Sam.
