Programmes

We welcome new families to visit our centre and see what we have to offer.
You are welcome to pop in between 8.30am and 3.30pm or phone on 022 470 0794 or email at coastkindy@gmail.com so that we can book a time with you and spend time showing you around the Kindy.

Our licensed hours are Monday to Friday 8.00 am to 4.00 pm during the school terms and also provide a school holiday programme for our enrolled children whose families need this service. We close at Christmas for 4 weeks and start back 2 weeks before the school term for the holiday programme. We offer both Work and Income subsidies and the 20 Hours ECE subsidy.

Catering for two to six-year-olds

Being a safe and happy place for your little one is highly valued by the team at Coast Kindy. We partner with you as you settle your child into our space. Siblings are able to be together which doesn’t always happen elsewhere.

We have very experienced staff who will take special care of your child. We will have your number on our mobile and will send you photos through direct message so you can see what your little one is up to during their time with us. You can contact us anytime and we seek to support you through this time of transition.

At Coast kindy your child will feel safe, secure, and happy – the foundation required for any learning, enabling your child to thrive.

Fees

Two-year-olds
Our fees for two-year-olds are $6 per hour. There are no minimum hours that you can do each week, but we do recommend that twice a week is better than once as it is a long time between visits.
Three to six-year-olds
ECE 20 Funded Hours

If your child is over 3 years of age then they will receive the 20 ECE funded hours for the first 6 hours of each day. After the funded 6 hours, the charge is $6 per hour, $3 per half hour, and $1.50 per 15 mins. Our invoices are automatically sent out each fortnight.

Optional charge

We have an optional charge of $2 per hour for the first 6 hours of the day. In 2022/23 we have chosen to acknowledge the current cost of living crisis and have chosen to not ask for this charge. We may revisit this in the future.

This is for:

  • Enabling us to have low ratios 1:7 and fully qualified and registered teachers, or in training.
  • We provide sunscreen and wet wipes.
  • We subsidise Kindy trips and events to allow all families to attend.
  • We support families with food parcels etc if needed.

WINZ Subsidy

Two-year-olds

For your two year old, there is the opportunity to access a subsidy through WINZ which can reduce the $6 per hour fee depending on your weekly gross family income and the number of children you have. Click on the link below to access the WINZ table to see if you qualify for any of the subsidy levels. We have the paper booklets at Kindy for you to use. If you are a WINZ customer, then there is a process that you can apply for the subsidy online without an appointment. Talk to Raewyn about this option if you are interested.

Three to six-year-olds

If you are a WINZ client, then they will usually pay for the rest of the hours that your children attend during the kindy day. You will need to apply to WINZ for this. The manager will need to fill out a form that documents the hours that your child is at kindy for each week. See Raewyn if you are interested.

Kin-da-groove music and movement programme

Music and Movement programme

KIN DA GROOVE

Kin da Groove runs on Friday mornings for babies to 5-year-olds at 9.30 am, during the school term, in the hall next to the Kindy. A music and dance session runs for 30 mins followed by morning tea for adults and children and a time for children to play and adults to connect with each other. Anyone from the community is welcome to come and enjoy.

Free for all children and caregivers, babies to 5 year olds.

Transition to school programme

Transition to School programme

We are part of the local “Community of Learners – Kahui Ako” where local schools and ECE Centres work together on the transitioning of children across our services. This ensures that there is a smoother transition for our children.

We have a strong relationship with Whangaparaoa Primary School’s New Entrant Class. This enables a coast Kindy teacher to attend the before school visits with the children, this has shown to be beneficial for transitioning the children from Kindy to the school.

We have a ‘going to school photo board’ where the children can see themselves and see the other children/their older siblings who have gone ahead to the school they are going to. We are committed to supporting our families at this transition time to make the process as smooth as possible.

We weave ‘getting ready for school ‘practices into our everyday curriculum. We nurture our children’s interests and curiosity and we build on this to support them in getting ready for school. We have strong links to our local community through regular Beach walks, library visits and Kin-da-groove sessions.

We have put together a “Getting ready for school toolkit” booklet with research and information from the Brainwave Trust that supports the way we prepare children for school.

The teachers are so gentle and kind

“Coast Kindy is a wonderful kindy. I have two children who both started there when they turned two, and they both adore it. The teachers are so gentle and kind, and we love that they use play-based learning. We recommend Coast Kindy to everyone we know. Thank you to the teachers for being such an important part of my kids lives, they love you!”

“Your team is so wonderful and caring and has become such a great part of our lives.”

the Michaels family

Such a great place

“Oh my… kindy has been such a great place for [our son] where he has truly grown and gained confidence under the amazing kindy teachers that have empowered him. He explores and learns so much and surprises us at home with amazing amounts of knowledge. While I’m sad this time is ending in the kindy phase as he goes to school, I know he has skills from the dedicated Coast Kindy team that will help him succeed.”

Daryl

A caring and creative space

“We highly recommend Coast Kindy. Both our grandchildren were part of the Coast family. This has always been a place of peace in the rush of our worlds. The facilities are 'old school' amazing and not clinical like some kindys. The teachers are so loving, nurturing, accommodating, kind, and patient. I really miss their welcoming smiles. If you're looking for a caring and creative space for your little one look no further.”

Brenda

So experienced and caring

“Absolutely the best center with the best teachers who are so experienced and caring. You leave every day knowing your child will be loved and exposed to such lovely values in all they do and everyone they encounter.”

Sarah

A beautiful, safe haven

“Coast Kindy truly cares for the whole family. Your hearts are full of love and what a beautiful, safe haven and home away from home you provide for our kids.”
