TERM 3 NEWSLETTER 2021
|Welcome to our new Finance Administrator
Sadly we say goodbye to Lauren and Annabella who have run our admin/finances for the last 2+ years through challenging times. We wish them well in their new directions of motherhood and retraining.
We are excited to welcome Tash who officially takes over from 26th July as our new Financial Administrator. You will get to meet her over the next few months.
| Term Three interests
Some of the children have shown interest in science experiments so we have had fun with all sorts of ingredients reacting and inspiring lots of theory making and questions of what, how, why and what next. We are looking forward to exploring science through fun activities this term.
|Outdoors in All Weather
As autumn turns towards winter, here at Kindy, we acknowledge that there are outdoor learning opportunities in ALL kinds of weather, including light rain. Please pack appropriate winter clothing in your child’s bag, such as a named raincoat, winter hat and named gumboots. Please make sure you include a change of clothes too. A re-useable plastic bag/wet bag would be helpful for wet clothes.
|Sustainability at Kindy
As part of our Sustainability journey, we encourage you to think of ways of reducing the wrappers and rubbish in your child’s lunchbox. Use boxes with separate compartments and use small containers for things like cut-up fruit, yoghurt etc.
Less rubbish in our landfill is a step in the right direction.
Remember to send us a photo of your child with your family or pet etc for our Whánau wall… email it and we can print it off and peg it up on the wall. It makes a great connection between home and Kindy.
|The Storypark App
Did you know that you can get the Storypark App on your device that you can use to upload any photos of your child, maybe adding a caption, which will go up on their Storypark profile with their other stories that we do at Kindy. We can print the photos off and put them into their hand-held profile book for them to look at. You can also email any photos, stories or comments your child has made to email@example.com and we will print them for your child’s profile book.
There are lots of illness around at the moment.
Please keep your child at home it they have: a Cough, Fever, Headache, Muscle Aches, Sore Throat, Nausea, Vomiting or Diarrhoea.
See you Doctor or Phone Healthline 0800 611 116 for more advice.
Fruit for morning tea
Thank you so much for bringing a piece of fruit each day your child comes to Kindy, to contribute to the children’s daily shared morning tea. There is a bowl on the water bottle trolley for this fruit.
Coast Kindy Policies
Each month we review a number of our policies. These are available for you to read on the noticeboard by the door.
|Celebrating Birthdays at Kindy
We love to celebrate your children’s birthday at Kindy! To keep up with our healthy heart focus and having the dietary needs of children in mind, we would like to supply a playdough cake for the children and relieve you of the work of making cakes etc. Preferred ideas for gifting to the other children, instead of lollies or cakes, could be stickers or pencils.
|Come in and share a skill, hobby or cultural activity with the children. Please see a teacher if you would like to. We would love to have a family member sewing, baking, building, doing craft, painting etc|
|Stay tuned to the Kindy emails for some fun-filled weeks to fill the wintery days.|

|Beach and Bush Walks
We continue to go for walks to Arkles Bay beach/bush on Wednesday afternoons with our 4 year olds.
The children are excited about being part of these adventures where we explore ‘our beach’ and see ‘our mountain’ Rangitoto. We share discoveries about beach life, nature and conservation and develop our own working theories and understanding while connecting with our community.
Parents, are very welcome to join us with your child if they are over 4 years old. You can meet us at Kindy at 1pm or down at the beach at 1:20pm.
