Coast Kindy was established in 1984, and has provided a warm, inviting centre to many families over the years. We are a non profit Christian Early Childhood centre that operates as a service to our community. We are strongly family focussed, welcoming our families to be involved in many of the events held throughout the year.
We are licensed for 30 children aged 2 to 6 years and have staff who are committed to providing an environment where children can explore, grow in confidence and a knowledge that they are capable, life long learners. We provide excellent care and education in our loving Christian centre.
**Supporting families as a Community Trust of Whangaparaoa Baptist**
We are a community based Christian centre and as part of the special nature of our Kindergarten, we acknowledge God as Creator and enable the children to discover that each of them is unique, created and loved by their heavenly Father. We recognise the importance of the family as an integral part of the development and wellbeing of the child. We support, encourage and affirm families in their role.
Manaakitanga and Whanaungatanga are visible in our centre through:
– An atmosphere which is warm, accepting and welcoming for adults and children and that will build reciprocal and respectful relationships.
– Supporting and caring for families in our kindergarten community.
– Providing a safe environment where children are protected as individuals and develop a sense of belonging.
The diverse cultures in our community are respected and celebrated.
We acknowldege Te Tiriti o Waitangi as the founding document of New Zealand and strive to provide a curriculum that upholds the principles of partnership, participation and protection for Maori in our centre.
We reflect the Reggio Emilia core values of relationship, learning and teaching, creativity, environment, time and reflective practice.
